19/03/2025

Recently, Dr. Tran Nguyen Thy Binh, Chair of the AUV Board of Trustees, and AUV professors warmly welcomed Dr. Mehdi Heravi during his visit to The American University in Vietnam (AUV). Dr. Heravi is a distinguished scholar, author, and philanthropist whose contributions have significantly impacted the academic community at Utah State University (USU). As a proud USU alumnus, his profound commitment to higher education and dedication to fostering a culture of peace and learning led to the establishment of the Heravi Peace Institute at USU. This institute serves as a vital center of knowledge, focusing on research, dialogue, and initiatives that promote global peace and understanding.

Through his vision and generosity, Dr. Heravi has profoundly enriched the educational experiences of USU students. His philanthropic efforts have provided numerous scholarships, enabling students from diverse backgrounds to pursue their academic aspirations at USU. These scholarships have facilitated students' engagement in impactful research, community projects, and global initiatives, all while receiving a high-quality education that prepares them for success in an increasingly complex world.

At AUV, students engage in diverse coursework designed to enhance their understanding of the world and the fragility of peace. The skills necessary for this understanding are developed in courses such as Interpersonal Communication, Peacebuilding, and Communication and Conflict. These courses are offered on campus through the collaboration between The American University in Vietnam and the Heravi Peace Institute at Utah State University. Dr. Heravi's visit underscored the necessity and productivity of such programs in educating future leaders committed to promoting peace.
